‘Uniformly Uniform’

05-04-2023

What an awesome sight to see ALL the students unanimously dressed in their proper prescribed uniform of the day. This is exactly what being ‘uniformly uniform’ means. Never underestimate the power of appearance in school. School uniform plays a major role in bringing about uniformity, belongingness and equality among students, no matter from which class, region, economic status, or country they belong. It creates the feeling of belonging to ‘one family’, the feeling of oneness.

Students in uniform are the ‘Brand Ambassadors’ of the school. They create an identity, a name and fame for the school. The pride of appearance of students dressed smartly in their uniform is an advertisement which stands well apart from any other sort of advertisement. It is ‘live’ advertisement.

“Wow! Just look at those students! How smart they look in their uniform! Which school are they from?” Isn’t this advertisement enough? On the contrary, “Oh, dear! Look at those students! What a variety of ‘uniform’ and look at the way they are dressed!!! Wonder which school they belong to?” This too is advertisement, which NO SCHOOL will ever want!

Dear students, self-worth and self-esteem are something that need to come from within one’s own self. The impression you portray as a student, with the feeling of pride of belonging to your school creates a branding for the school. So, button up right to the neck, tie in place, with crisply ironed shirt / blouse and pant / skirt, shirt / blouse tucked in, clean white socks, and polished black shoes! Oh, what a get-up! What a smart look! What a pleasant sight!

Yes, the school has its set of rules to ensure that its students are in their proper uniform and well-dressed to school, nonetheless, it is not the school rules that should set you on track, it should be one’s own passion and will to look smart for school. Remember, self-esteem and self-worth. The manner in which one dresses, is a reflection of his / her personality. Remember, the first step to being respected is to look respectable.

There is a time to dress formally and there is also a time to dress casually in whichever manner suits the person. Adhere to the dress codes and dress accordingly and appropriately.

While at school, get into that uniform to maintain uniformity, obtain identity, sustain personality, retain oneness of mentality and to ascertain publicity. Make it your need and desire, to dress respectfully and immaculately for school, and not for the sake of the rules laid down. Be proud to belong to your school and be ‘uniformly uniform’ in your branded school uniform. All in uniform, it’s a brand of a different kind!

Quote, “15 minutes to go, as I wrote my last school exam!” “A little more time, please”, my school uniform wept. Unquote.
