Yearning for Learning

28-12-2022

‘Learning’, a very interesting word with an open description that has no end! A discussion which can go on and on without end! Learning begins the day one is born, and it goes on till one breathes his or her last! The yearning for learning is all we need. Yes, ‘WE’! It is not just that students need to learn. For everyone without age bar, every moment is a learning instance and a perfect learning experience, when taken in the right sense. Kids can learn from adults and vice versa! One’s notion of “I know everything” is equal to living in a ‘Fool’s Paradise’! It is all in the mindset. An interested ‘learner’ makes the best use of whatever comes his / her way, be it by way of action, advise, adventure, experience, failure, success, you name it, and it has a learning aspect in it. The point is, how one perceives it.

The love for learning is something quite unique. Not everyone has it, as when one hears the word ‘learning’, what comes to the mind is ‘Oh, no! Sitting with books!’ “No, dear, learning does not mean that you must only sit with your books. It is necessary but learning goes way beyond books!” “Come with me. Let’s go into the garden.” Just an example of a simple means of learning starts, be it for a child of any age or even an elderly person. The number of learning aspects here cannot be tracked as it goes on from one aspect to the other there, all interconnected. Interdisciplinary linking as in educational term, which is also called web-learning.

The actual learning catalyst lies within one’s own self, the urge to learn. The ‘window’’ of one’s mind must be kept open with a receptive attitude. Everything else which aids learning is the scaffolding effect provided by the surrounding, by way of people, places, things, flora, fauna and so on. Just need to connect along the right wavelength with activated receptors. ASK questions, as you go along. One who asks plenty of questions, is an active learner, one who thinks. There is a general notion that, one who asks questions, is one who has not understood! It is right the opposite. It is the ‘thinker’ who poses ample number of queries, a sign of affinity towards learning. Be the ‘Thinker’’ and not a ‘Shrinker’! This just the tip of an iceberg, related to tips about learning.
